The EdNet10 Help Desk provides First level or ‘front end’ support for district staff. The types of technical problems handled by the EdNet10 Help Desk inlcude:
The purpose of the EdNet10 Data Network to advance and promote education within public school districts it serves. EdNet10 is operated by Region 10 Education Service Center to provide services intended to enable and promote collaboration and sharing of information resources among the educators, students, and the professional staffs of the Education Service Centers, Texas Education Agency, higher education and other educational entities.
The goal of EdNet10 Network Consortium is to provide telecommunication technologies to deliver multiple, interactive services that promote equity and excellence in education. To achieve this, these services must provide quality, cost-effective information services and resources to public school districts.
The use of the EdNet10 Data Network and the Internet shall be consistent with the goal of the EdNet10 Network Consortium. Successful operation of services requires that its users regard EdNet10 and the Internet as a valuable resource and cooperate to form a community of diverse interests with the common purpose of advancing education. All users should conduct themselves in a responsible, ethical, and polite manner while using the services.
The intent of this Acceptable Use Agreement is to ensure that all employee users of EdNet10 and the Internet conduct themselves in a manner consistent with the purposes of EdNet10 Network Consortium. This policy does not attempt to articulate all required behavior by EdNet10 users. Access to this networks is an open service in both implementation and spirit.
The EdNet10 Data network will have technology protection measures for the Internet or electronic communications that blocks or filters access to visual depictions that are obscene, pornographic, inappropriate or harmful to minors, as defined by Children’s Internet Protection Act [Pub. L. No. 106-554 and 47 USC 2549h)] and as determined by the Executive Director or designee. Upon approval from the Executive Director or designee, the technology protection measure may be disabled for bona fide research or other lawful purpose.
1. Research and use of EdNet10 and the Internet should be consistent with the purposes of Region 10's goal to promote equity and excellence in education.
2. EdNet10 Data Network makes no warranties of any kind, whether expressed or implied for the Internet or local area network services it provides.
3. All computers and peripherals are purchased, installed, maintained, and disposed of according to Region 10 policies, applicable laws, and regulations.
4. Region10 and EdNet10 will make decisions on whether specific uses of the networks are consistent with this Acceptable Use Policy.
5. Email is provided to promote efficient, professional communication within Region 10 Education Service Center and the school districts it supports. Email is not guaranteed to be private.
6. Respect the privacy of all users of the networks by accessing only the computer accounts and files for which authorization has been provided.
7. Any use of the networks for illegal purposes, or in support of illegal activities is prohibited.
8. Personal use of the networks including email for gain, advertising, or political lobbying is inappropriate.
9. Users shall respect the integrity of computer systems serving networks by avoiding any actions that may disrupt the use of network service. Those actions include:
a. tampering with the physical network connections
b. defining or changing IP addresses
c. intercepting or attempting to intercept email and file transfers
d. originating or attempting to originate email from another person’s account
10. Software used on Region 10 owned equipment must be legally obtained and its use must follow any license or copyright. It is the responsibility of each employee to insure that his or her actions do not violate copyright.
1. System administrators reserve the right to access email and investigate complaints.
2. Material added to websites should be monitored for content and correctness by the submitting users and/or network member institutions.
