Maintaining an efficient, effective, and economical information management system including financial, personnel, and student data is imperative for school operations. The Division of Information Services at the Region 10 Education Service Center provides these services under an Application Service Provider (ASP) design.
Following is a representative list of the critical attributes of this Region 10 support system.
• Application software is constantly maintained for compliance with Texas Education Agency, Teacher Retirement System, and other governmental requirements.
• Application software is routinely localized to accommodate unique requirements of user districts.
• The central processing unit, operating system software, database management software, infrastructure disc storage, and other operational hardware and software are state-of-the-art.
• The computer operations center is monitored 24/7, utilizing three shifts of skilled operators.
• Several applications are web-accessible and/or intranet accessible for transaction processing as deemed appropriate by district personnel, and efforts to expand web access is continuing.
• Operational and data security are ensured through: daily backup on-site and off-site, a recovery operation center, an on-site automatic diesel electrical generator, and defined procedures.
• Data extraction, reporting, and printing capabilities are provided based on user needs and requests.
• District representatives meet quarterly to establish priorities, review/evaluate operational performance, design fee structures and amounts, approve financial budgets, provide general oversight, and specify direction for the cooperative.
• Applications interface personnel develop, schedule, and deliver training, provide extensive application documentation, and assist district personnel via on-site visits, phone, email, and other communications as needed.
• All personnel, regardless of specific job assignment, are highly qualified, available, responsive, and dedicated to serving the needs of all district personnel.
