About Us Region 10 Demographics

 

Region 10 Education Service Center is the second largest of the 20 ESCs in Texas.  Created by the Texas Legislature in 1967, ESCs serve the students, schools and public educational enterprise of the State of Texas with technical assistance, training and products that enhance school improvement and the economies of school districts.


The service region is composed of 80 public school districts and 40 public charter schools (with 63 individual campuses) and a 2008-2009 student enrollment of 723,424*.  This enrollment represents 15.23% of the 4,749,571 students enrolled in public education in Texas.  The region encompasses Collin, Dallas, Ellis, Fannin, Grayson, Hunt, Kaufman, Rockwall, and a part of Van Zandt Counties.


The total of all personnel employed in the school systems of Region 10 in 2008-2009 was 92,988#.  This figure represents 50,152 teachers, 8,636 support staff positions (supervisors, counselors, librarians, nurses, therapists, etc.), 3,885 administrators, 7,970 educational aides, and 22,345 auxiliary staff (cafeteria, custodial, transportation, maintenance, etc.).
